Isle of Wight and back in 90 minutes
Posted: 10/06/2012 | Author: Juraj Hrk | Filed under: Travel | Tags: Aerial Photography, Boats, Brighton, East Sussex, England, Flying, Hove, Isle of Wight, Shoreham, The Needles, Travel, West Sussex |81 CommentsOn a beautiful Saturday afternoon, with a gorgeous blue sky and no clouds on the horizon, we took a trip to the Isle of Wight – by plane. This day will imprint itself upon the history of 2012 as being the point when summer finally hit, although it didn’t last very long, after all this is England! From above, with people chilling out in the sun, enjoying bike rides, burgers and bikinis, the world looks relaxed and worry free. As the sun kept shining and the wind kept blowing, with my mate Dan at the controls, we headed west to the Isle of Wight, admiring the beauty from above.
If you are interested in pleasure flights or flying lessons please get in touch.
Me at work, trying not to get sucked out of the plane…
Chasing some boats along the way…
The Needles, Isle of Wight – needs to be seen from above to appreciate its beauty.
This is where it ends, well it wasn’t our choice but with fuel running low, we thought we’d better land. With a great day behind us and happy memories, off we went to the pub for refuelling!
Awesome pics, I think I may need to visit the UK, you’ve sold it to me!!
Oli x
Cheers – you should definitely come and see England, and if you’re serious about flying I can hook you up with my mate – he’s great pilot… 🙂
I can feel these photos. And hear them. Congrats and thanks for sharing all of it with us.
Many thanks and always 🙂
I’ve always wanted to do this!! What amazing photos. You’ve inspired me to make this happen this summer 😀
Thanks – flying in a small prop plane is great, nothing like commercial cattle carriers 🙂 Good luck and hope you’ll manage to do it…
Great pics – might need to nab some off you for my Geog classes. I would LOVE to do this! Max x
Max – you can always nab some pics off me 🙂
Hey Juraj – long time no speak!! Loving the pics, never realised England looked this good 🙂 I’ll be in the UK next month, would be good to see you for catch up!
Sabs x
Sabie, you’re still alive!? What a surprise, sure, use the email on my website… x
Holy crap – this is awesome stuff!!! Would you mind telling me what camera and lenses you used here? Ta
Sure, lenses 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8 on Canon 5D mkII
Really really great shots… 😉
Cheers – everything looks much better from above… 🙂

Many thanks, I’ve enjoyed your posts too 🙂
Hi Juraj, thanks for clicking “like” on my pigeon shot… that made me discover you ;). You have captured some nice views :O), but what I enjoyed most is your nature portfolio :). Stunning!
Many thanks Paula – great shot and lovely blogs 🙂
Thank you for stopping by my blog! How beautiful your photos are…I visited your website too! Those aerial captures are awesome Juraj! I really feel bad that I won’t be going to the Olympics but with your photos, England is a definitely bucket list travel! Cheers!
Many thanks – shame the weather is not always like this in the UK 🙂
Very nice aerial photos taken! Nice!!!
🙂
Beautiful and so peaceful!!!
😀
Cool. Keep on sharing with us your magnificent shots.
;o)
Lovely photos. I love aerial shots.
:o)
Love your work… 🙂
😉
Spectacular colors. Your photos make the landscapes and seascapes look alive and fresh. When I was a teenager I often accompanied my dad while he took aerial photographs from a helicopter. It’s a whole other art in itself.
Many thanks. There’s something nice about seeing the world go by from above. I would take a helicopter any time for aerial shots – this was done from a Cessna with an open window and flying at around 100mph it’s not the easiest but it’s a great fun! 🙂
beautiful and excellent view 🙂
Cheers Dan 🙂
What an amazing collection of ariel views you have!!!!!
Many thanks Jeni 😉
One of the delights of blogging is that you never know what to expect when you return a visit. But I really didn’t expect to find beautiful photos of somewhere so familiar to me!
Thanks 😉
Stunning. On a great day, there’s no place like home! I absolutely loved the post. Some of the RYA and Admiralty reference books could do with buying some of your content! Thank you
Many thanks Randle!
Beautiful shots 🙂 stunning
Beautiful scenery! I’m most drawn to the shots that make the familiar abstract– for example, the speedboat racing across the open ocean (#7) as well as #13, 15 among others. Beautiful post, thanks for stopping by the LoveMore blog and showing some love~ Jason
Many thanks Jason!
This photos are so lovely ! 😀
Thankyou 😉
I’m so glad you liked one of my posts because I could discover your blog ! I was in awe looking at these wonderful photos, they are all so beautiful and breathtaking !
Many thanks Jocelyne 🙂 I enjoyed your pics too!

Cheers, Lada
Cheers – definitely worth it 😉
Yes, it is. Awesome journey!
Wow ! Beautiful Aerial Photography.
Thank you 😉
On a good day, England is truly stunning. Thanks for stopping by my blog, your pictures are beautiful.
Cheers April and you’re right – on a good day it is great but unfortunately the weather’s pathetic most of the time 😦
WOW, great shots!
Is that a pool on the little circular island (with a lighthouse)? Rather funny if so, with all that lovely water about!
Wonderful shots, indeed!
Yes it is – it’s called Spitbank Fort and it’s a sea fort built as a result of the 1859 Royal Commission. The fort is one of four located in the Solent, near Portsmouth, England.
Super! 🙂
Ciao, Greta
Absolutley stunning pictures. I’ve always wanted to live in the UK not just visit.
great way to do it , enjoy!
Wow! I’d love to visit someday!
Wow; beautiful views!
;D
053 you flew over my old house in Bembridge IoW which I left for Spain 10 years ago. Thanks for the memories, Lovely shots 🙂
Thanks Ralph – the world is very small place from above 🙂
Some great shots!
Wonderful viewpoint from up there. As a photographer I appreciate novel views, but I was wondering, are you shooting through a window? If so, you did a great job of eliminating most of the glare. I once went up in a biplane over the San Juan Islands, Washington state, and there were no windows—the best way to shoot.
Also, mahalo (thank you in Hawaiian) for stopping by my blog and for the like.
Many thanks Jennifer. All the shots were taken from Cessna Skyhawk with an open window – great fun in summer but not so much in winter flying at almost 100 miles per hour in freezing temperature 🙂 Some of the aerial shots in Hawaii were taken from a helicopter through the window.
Breathtaking, felt I was up there with you. Really enjoyed the Ticket to Ryde!
beautiful captures! loved them all! 🙂
Realy pretty photos
How beautiful, how beautiful… I wished to be in there too 🙂 It is so exciting… I was in UK during summer vacation, it’s been two years. Bournemouth, the city of my beautiful memories, we visited again after many years then… But I know Brighton too, when I was young I stayed there for weekend. I love UK, wonderful country and has an amazing landscape… and beautiful people… You almost took me to my memories now, with your beautiful photographs, I missed now, Devizes, Salisbury, Lacock, and Bournemouth… Thank you, with my love, nia
